The municipality is bordered to the west and northwest by the municipality of Silves, to the northeast and east by Loulé and to the south has a wide coastline in the Atlantic Ocean.

The former fishing village has become a popular holiday destination, with beaches and a bustling area with nightly attractions, local fishermen use the modern marina, which is also a base for diving, dolphin watching and boating. It is surrounded by colorful residential buildings with a seaside promenade.

Currently, Albufeira and its municipality assume themselves as one of the main tourist centers of the country, offering almost 30km of coastline and more than two dozen very diverse beaches among themselves, both in terms of the natural environment, as in terms of occupation and tourist offer.

Although the tourist equipment, as well as the nightlife, are one of the most famous in the Algarve, they still live alongside another reality that of the quiet villages, where there are manual arts such as the blueshop, the carved copper or the tapestry of esparto, surrounded by orchards of seaanda with almond trees in bloom.
