Essa cidade seria, contudo, atacada, por volta de 405 da era cristã, por povos bárbaros, os suevos e os godos, que teriam sido detidos pela valentia de uma valorosa mulher. Essa mulher, esposa de um ferreiro, terá defendido a porta do castelo com dois malhos.
Este facto, que até hoje nos traz algumas dúvidas e que ainda não pôde ser confirmado cientificamente, deu imagem ao Brasão da vila no qual figura uma mulher com um malho em cada mão.

This fact, which to this day brings us some doubts and which has not yet been scientifically confirmed, gave an image to the Coat of Arms of the village in which a woman appears with a mallet in each hand.
